THOMAS  KINKADE  PAINTS
STUDY PAINTING

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Sept. 22, 2006) – Internationally renowned artist Thomas Kinkade was the latest visitor to Graceland® on Friday where he toured the property and completed a “plein air” study of the landmark home in preparation for the creation and March 2007 release of a painting of Graceland to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Elvis’s® purchase of the property.

Thomas Kinkade poses with Tommy and Tammy Ashker,
owners of Wolfchase Gallery, in front of Elvis Presley's® home.

"Thomas Kinkade, America's most collected living artist, has captured on canvas what Elvis® was able to do with his music,” stated Tammy Ashker, owner of the Thomas Kinkade Gallery at Wolfchase Galleria. “The King of Rock and Roll was an inspiration to millions worldwide, and his music, like Thomas Kinkade's art, is enjoyed by millions. We are looking forward to the release of the limited edition canvas so that our collectors will have the opportunity to enjoy the truly American landmark known as Graceland®."

Over 600,000 people each year travel to Memphis to visit Graceland®. It has been the city’s top tourist attraction since it opened to the public in 1982. This year Graceland is celebrating its 25th anniversary of being open for public tours.

“I grew up with my sister listening to Elvis’ music”, said Thomas Kinkade as he toured the property. “It is the personal connection that people feel to Elvis® and the joy his music brings that keep people coming here to Graceland. I hope that my painting will capture that spirit and provide the people who love Elvis with a visual reminder of how he used his God-given talent to bring joy to millions.”

Kinkade, widely known as The Painter of Light, worked for about 3 hours on the plein air study that he will use to create the final painting in his studio. Limited edition canvas prints will be available in the Mid-south region to collectors through the Thomas Kinkade Gallery, located in the Wolfchase Galleria.
